This three-day course is designed for those in law enforcement using the Rohde & Schwarz Autonomous Mobile Network Scanner. This course reviews the hardware configurations used by the R&S®TSMA6B Drive Test Scanner and provides in-depth instruction on the use of the R&S®NESTOR cellular network analysis software. Additionally, this course will provide instruction on the methodology of conducting scans while driving, walking, and in staticlocations both indoors and outside.

Students will develop skills to effectively conduct cellular network scans in any environment. They will then apply these skills and techniques to properly evaluate the results with either Accurint® TraX™ or the R&S®NESTOR software. These skills can be applied to confirm the cellular network “fingerprint” viewed in a set of records received from any cellular provider.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Determining “best server” areas for specific cell sites and sectors.
  • Accurately apply a percentage to alibi’s based on cell phone records and pattern of life.
  • Determine the best cell sites and sectors required for any provider when considering a cell site dump.
  • Evaluate and test the Accurint TraX horizontal plane sizing.
  • Utilize the Rohde & Schwarz horizontal plane while using the R&S®NESTOR software.
  • Properly configure the scanner for millimeter waves (mmWaves).
  • Methodology for scanning while driving.
  • Methodology for conducting scans when GPS is not available.
  • Methodology for conducting scans indoors, both while moving and in static locations.
  • Troubleshooting common issues while scanning.
  • Visualizing the entire cellular network to include all available providers.
  • Determine what technology is available in a specific area between 3G, LTE, and 5G by provider.
